The setting is the part that holds your diamond. It changes how much of the stone you see, how high it sits and how it wears day to day.
Shop cathedral settings| Setting | The look | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| 4 prongs | Shows the most diamond, with a slightly squared outline. | The classic choice for round, oval and cushion shapes. |
| 6 prongs | A rounder, softer outline around the stone. | Extra points of contact hold the diamond more firmly. |
| Bezel | A smooth metal rim around the edge. | Protects the girdle and suits an active lifestyle. |
| Cathedral | Graceful arches lift the center stone. | Sits a little higher, so it shows the diamond from the side. |
| Low profile | The diamond sits closer to the finger. | Less likely to catch on gloves or knitwear. |
The band is half the ring.
Plain polished
Pure, simple gold that lets the center diamond lead.
PavΓ©
Diamonds along the top of the band for continuous sparkle.
Split or twisted
A band that divides or turns for a more sculptural shape.
Thin or bold
A slim band makes the diamond look larger. A wider band feels substantial.
Four questions to narrow it down.
Not sure where to start? Answer these, then browse with confidence.
- 01
How do you live?
Busy hands or an active job? A bezel or low-profile setting is the most practical.
- 02
What does she already wear?
Clean, modern pieces point to a solitaire or bezel. Detailed, romantic pieces point to halo or vintage.
- 03
Will the wedding band sit flush?
Some styles leave a small gap. A bridal set or a curved band fits neatly beside them.
- 04
Which metal?
White gold for a bright, cool look. Yellow or rose gold for warmth. Compare the metals.
Asked most often.
Does a halo make the diamond look bigger?
Yes. The surrounding diamonds widen the face-up outline, so the center stone reads larger than it would on its own. A hidden halo adds sparkle without changing the outline.
Is a bezel setting secure?
Very. The metal rim surrounds the diamondβs edge, which protects it from knocks. Itβs a strong choice for active lifestyles.
Should I choose 4 or 6 prongs?
Four prongs show a little more of the diamond. Six prongs give a rounder outline and hold the stone at more points. Both are secure when made well.
Can I combine styles?
Yes. Pair a hidden halo with a pavΓ© band, or a solitaire with a twisted band. Start a custom design and weβll send a 3D render for you to approve.
